Personal Statement

I am an Assistant Professor in the Division of Developmental and Cognitive Neuroscience and the Director of the Biomarkers Core Laboratory. I am affiliated with the Emory Institute for Drug Discovery (EIDD). I also participate in research and collaborative efforts as an expert in sphingolipids and mass spectrometric techniques for small molecule quantitation. I have more than ten years of experience in mass spectrometric method development and extensive experience on many different types of mass spectrometers. I am also accomplished in the analysis of a wide variety of small molecules including lipids, nucleosides, steroids, and peptides in biological fluids and tissues. This has provided an expertise that I leverage as Director of the Biomarkers Core and the Lipidomics Core of MaHPIC for developing and implementing new quantitative assay techniques that maximize research results while minimizing sample usage.
