Personal Statement

I have 15 year’s experience studying malaria, with emphasis on Plasmodium blood-stage parasites, working with in vitro cultures (P. falciparum. P. knowlesi and P. cynomolgi), in vivo non-human primate infections (P. vivax, P. falciparum, P. cynomolgi and P. knowlesi), and ex-vivo parasites generated from these infections. My expertise in malaria molecular and cell biology, includes gene expression, protein expression and characterization. I participated actively in the development of MaHPIC and as Project Manager I help to coordinate the many required activities, including collection of sample, database entry and maintenance, grant expenditure adherence, project evaluation, meeting scheduling, control of equipment and supplies. Importantly, I also serve as project liaison between the MaHPIC core leaders and staff involved in the research protocols, international collaborators, and government agency officials as required.
