Dr. García joined the faculty at Yerkes National Primate Research Center in 2002 and since then has been actively involved in collaborative research studying nonhuman primate animal models for infectious conditions, particularly those caused by opportunistic microorganisms. In her service role, Dr. García performs postmortem examinations of clinical and research nonhuman primate cases and other laboratory animal species. In addition, Dr. García serves as Training Coordinator of the pathology rotation of the Laboratory Animal Medicine Residency and the Harold McClure Comparative Pathology Externship Programs. As Interim Associate Director of the Division of Pathology, Dr. García oversees the administrative functions of the Division. As the Director of the Pathogenesis Core with MaHPIC, she is working collaboratively with other MaHPIC investigators to study the pathogenesis of malaria using histological analyses on tissue specimens. |
